Verdict
"Toxic Las Vegas" successfully beams the king from 1963 to 2023. It's not as timeless as "Viva Las Vegas", but still an enjoyable dance track.

The ultimate site about the king of the analogue age
On January 6, 2023 House Of Iona and RCA Records released "Toxic Las Vegas". On Billboard's "Hot Dance/Electronic Chart" it peaked at number 26 and also entered the top40 in several European countries. The track is available in Hi-Res on the streaming platforms and is also included on the soundtrack album "Elvis" (2022). On Spotify -of course not in Hi-Res- "Toxic Las Vegas" accumulates a bit over 8 million streams.
Toxic Las Vegas
The track originally appeared in the movie "Elvis" (2022) and was released on the accordant soundtrack album. After a fan-created video was seen on TikTok by more than 100 million people within just a few weeks, it was decided to release the song on a single to promote the de-luxe edition of the soundtrack. The song is a mash-up of Presley's "Viva Las Vegas" and Spears' "Toxic", created by Jamieson Shaw. Elvis had recorded "Viva Las Vegas" in July 1963 and scored a top30 hit with it the following year. "Toxic" was recorded by Britney in 2003, became a chart topper in various countries and won her a Grammy Award. On Spotify "Toxic" accumulates more than 1.5 billion streams while "Viva Las Vegas" clocks in at 85 million. So it's safe to say that Mrs. Spears' song was far more successful than the one of Mr. Presley. But because it was made for a movie about the king, "Toxic Las Vegas" basically is a reworked edition of "Viva Las Vegas" with elements of "Toxic" thrown in. It features various effects and a strong rhythm. I certainly do not prefer it to Elvis' original recording and it's not made for sitting down and listening to it. "Toxic Las Vegas" was made for clubs and bars and in that surrounding it works just fine.
