Just half a year after the first album, RCA released "Our Memories Of Elvis - Volume 2". On August 25, 1979 it entered the "Top LPs Chart", but only stayed for five weeks and never made it past number 157. On the same day the longplayer also entered the "Hot Country LPs Chart". In this segment the 220,000 sold units were enough for a run of 16 weeks and a peak at number 12. The single "There's A Honkey Tonk Angel" / "I Got A Feeling In My Body" sold 250,000 copies and became a top ten hit. The numbers equal 275 million paid streams of the album and 50 million paid streams of the single.

Because the sales once again didn't meet RCA's expectations, the series was stopped and the already prepared third volume never came out. Of course this one, too, is not available on the streaming platforms.

I Got A Feeling In My Body

The religious funk was recorded on December 10, 1973 at Stax in Memphis/Tennessee. For "Our Memories Of Elvis - Volume 2" the  organ and the wah-wah-guitar were removed, the harmony voices were moved a bit more in the background.

Green Green Grass Of Home

Here Dick Bogert silenced the choir, the orchestra and the accustic guitar. Elvis taped the country classic on March 11, 1975 at RCA Studio C in Hollywood/California.

For The Heart

This one had been recorded on February 5, 1976 at Graceland. The remix does without the harmony voices, the moog synthesizer and the clavinet. Unfortunately the lack of other voices just emphasizes on the fact, that the man from Memphis missed several notes.

She Wears My Ring

On December 16, 1973 the king sang perfectly. So the choir and the orchestra are not missed all that much.

I Can Help

Elvis recorded the Billy Swan hit on March 11, 1975 in Hollywood. Once again it turns out, that it wasn't a good idea to silence the harmony singers. At times the king appears to be out of breath, which is now very audible.

Way Down

Because JD Sumner's bass vocals are a supporting element of the song, it's a somewhat strange decision to do without the harmony voices. Besides that, the lack of other voices emphasize on Elvis' timing mistake. At one point he misses his cue and wants to sing the world "hold" a tad too early. He swallows it, but it's easy to make it out. By the way: The track was taped on October 29, 1976 at Graceland.

There's A Honky Tonk Angel

This one was recorded on December 15, 1973 at Stax. As usual the choir and the orchestra are left out..

Find Out What's Happening

When the song was released, it featured harmony singers and Elvis' vocal accompaniment of the instrumental part was silenced. To enhance the session feeling, Dick Bogert removed the choir and put the king's sing-along part in place again. The recording was made on July 22, 1973 at Stax.

Thinking About You

Elvis recorded "Thinking About You" on December 12, 1973 at Stax in Memphis. Compared to the master the song runs 20 seconds longer and does without the harmony singers and the orchestra.

Don't Think Twice, It's Alright

This jam had been taped on May 16, 1971 at RCA Studio B in Nashville/Tennessee. Two years later a heavily edited version was released on the album "Elvis". Dick Bogert created an intro by starting the recording at 0:37, silencing the king's vocals and bringing James Burton's guitar to the fore. The track runs for eight and a half minutes, which is too long. Elvis repeates the same lines over and over again, so it starts to get boring quite soon.

Verdict

Once again several tracks sound better without all the additional stuff. But this time some of the recordings reveal, that the overdubbs at times covered up the singer's shortcomigs.
