The ultimate site about the king of the analogue age

On March 9, 1965 Elvis reported to MGM to begin filming his 19th motion picture. But before the cameras rolled, he had to finish the soundtrack recordings. To save time and money this was done right at the MGM Sound Stage in Culver City/California.

Harem Holiday

Elvis tried seven times, in the end the vocal overdub was a splice of takes 6 and 7. FTD's "The HARUM SCARUM Sessions" contains just the finished product, not the outtakes.

Mirage

Here the king needed four takes, the master vocal is a splice of takes 4 and 3. Once again that's the only version we get to hear on this set.

Go East, Young Man

The final tune took Elvis the longest. He tried 8 times, but once again wasn't able to record his vocals within a single take. And so the master was a combination of the takes 7 and 8. As expected we just get to hear the released version. I am pretty sure that the outtakes of the vocal overdubs were not stored.
