The ultimate site about the king of the analogue age

After having been available on dvd for more than a decade, Warner Brother's 2001 remake of "That's The Way It Is" finally made it onto a blu ray on August 12, 2014.

Video

While the rehearsal footage sometimes displays a bit of grain and other visual imperfections, the material filmed during the concerts looks nothing but great. The colors are stunning and the image reveals a lot of details not seen before. The 1080p AVC transfer leaves nothing to be desired, at least regarding the live footage.

Audio

The soundtrack is available in DTS HD 5.1. It focuses on the front speakers, but cleverly uses the rears to generate some atmosphere. Everything sounds crisp and vivid, so it perfectly matches the video quality of the concert material.

Extras

On top of the actual movie the blu ray offers a featurette called "Patch It Up", which offers an inside-look of the restauration and reconstruction of "That's The Way It Is".

Verdict

Even though the rehearsal material doesn't look and sound perfect at times, I give this release a five-star-rating. Simply, because the concert footage looks stunning and the great 5.1 soundtrack completes the full-blown live experience.
