Verdict
Video and audio are solid and connote an improvement over previous releases. However, Explosive Media cannot compete with the digital releases of Warner or Paramount.
Explosive Media
The ultimate site about the king of the analogue age
In 2011 Koch Media presented a dvd version of "Ein Himmlischer Schwindel" (as "Change Of Habit" was called in Germany), eight years later the company collaborated with Explosive Media for an upgraded blu ray release. They were joined by the Elvis Presley Gesellschaft, a German fanclub, which provided a nicely designed and well written booklet.
While Warner and Paramount scanned the original negatives with 4k equipment, I seriously doubt that Explosive Media did the same. Don't get me wrong, the clarity is quite good and the colors look natural. But it's not nearly as sharp and bright and there are bits and pieces of dust and grain every now and then. So in general the 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 is an improvement over previous releases and nice to watch, but it cannot compete with the results other companies archived regarding their restaurations.
The soundtrack is delivered in DTS Mono 2.0. The mix is solid, there is no hiss or anything else that might reveal the age of the movie. This is a German release, but of course it also includes the original audio.
