"Frankie And Johnny" was included in Explosive Media's series of Presley blu rays on February 8, 2018. Once again they teamed up with the German Elvis Presley Gesellschaft, which provided a booklet.

Video

While Warner and Paramount scanned the original negatives with 4k equipment, I seriously doubt that Explosive Media did the same. The picture simply is not as sharp and bright and there are bits and pieces of dust and grain every now and then. Don't get me wrong, the video is not bad at all. Compared to previous releases this one offers a huge improvement and one certainly can enjoy the rich colors of the costumes and sets. For a movie of that age the 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 looks very good, but it cannot compete with the results other companies archived regarding their restaurations. 

Audio

The soundtrack is delivered in DTS Mono 2.0. The mix is solid, there is no hiss or anything else that might reveal the age of the movie. This is a German release, but of course it also includes the original audio.
