In early 2018 Koch Media released a dvd of the movie "Cowboy Melodie" aka "Tickle Me". At first the fans were delighted to be able to buy the movie after such a long time, but as soon as they saw the film, they were disappointed due to the truckload of digital glitches. On August 11th of the same year the company teamed up with Explosive Media and re-released the movie on blu ray. Thankfully this edition was free of technical problems, besides that the companies had teamed up with the German fanclub Elvis Presley Gesellschaft eV, which provided a well designed and informative booklet.

Video

While Warner and Paramount scanned the original negatives with 4k equipment, I seriously doubt that Explosive Media did the same. The picture simply is not as sharp and bright and there are bits and pieces of dust and grain every now and then. But even though this product cannot compete with the restaurations made by Warner and Paramount, it isn't bad at all. The picture is sharp and the colors are rich and natural. For a movie of that age "Tickle Me" certainly looks very good.

Audio

The soundtrack is delivered in DTS Mono 2.0. The mix is solid, there is no hiss or anything else that might reveal the age of the movie. This is a German release, but of course it also includes the original audio.
