Verdict
The video is a joy to watch and the audio can be described as solid. However, Explosive Media cannot compete with the digital releases of Warner or Paramount.
Explosive Media
The ultimate site about the king of the analogue age
After having released "Follow That Dream" and "Frankie And Johnny" in February 2018, Explosive Media followed up on August 9th with "Wild In The Country" and "Kid Galahad". Once again the Swiss company teamed up with the German fanclub Elvis Presley Gesellschaft, which produced a nice booklet with information about the movies as well as a selection of photos.
While Warner and Paramount scanned the original negatives with 4k equipment, I seriously doubt that Explosive Media did the same. The picture simply is not as sharp and bright and there are bits and pieces of dust and grain every now and then. But even though this product cannot compete with the restaurations made by Warner and Paramount, it isn't bad at all. The picture is sharp and the colors are rich and natural. For a movie from the early 1960s "Wild In The Country" looks mighty fine.
The soundtrack is delivered in DTS Mono 2.0. The mix is solid, there is no hiss or anything else that might reveal the age of the movie. This is a German release, but of course it also includes the original audio.
