The ultimate site about the king of the analogue age

Originally it had been planned to open the tour on October 15, 1976 with a single show at Chicago Stadium. But when the booking office opened on September 21st, some fans had stood in line for 30 (!) hours and it didn't take long before all 20,000 available tickets were gone. So Elvis agreed to start the tour a day earlier and add another show. Once again the seats were sold as fast as the employees could get the tickets over the counter. In total the king was seen by 40,000 people, who paid approximately 400,000 USD for the tickets and another 53,787 USD for merchandising items. The concerts in Chicago were the most lucrative ones of the tour.

In 2010 Follow That Dream Records released them on a double disc called "Chicago Stadium". Both concerts were recorded in mono through the mixing desk of the sound engineer, albeit he didn't capture the opening of the second show. The mix is good considering the source, for this release the recordings were mastered by Lene Reidel. "Chicago Stadium" is also one of the rare occasions, FTD actually bothered to produce a booklet. It may not surprise anyone, that this release is not available on the streaming platforms.
