Verdict
Of course not everything is bad, some of it actually is quite good. Nevertheless it's an unpleasant experience to witness the king declining from day to day.

The ultimate site about the king of the analogue age
In the summer of 2023 Follow That Dream Records released a set of three compact discs. It was called "August Season In Vegas - Hilton Hotel, 1974" and featured soundboard recordings of the king's shows on August 27th (dinner show), August 29th (midnight show) and August 30th (dinner show). The sound carrierers were delivered in a fold-out 5" digi-pak, well designed with photos from this very Vegas stint. The mono recordings were mastered by Jan Eliasson and sound good considering the source. As usual FTD does without a digital release.
The recordings present the end of the season. On August 26th he had missed both shows, officially due to the flu. So this set documents the "comeback" after his day off and unfortunately also his downfall. From concert to concert Elvis appears to be more medicated, more distracted and more agressive. Even though he tries to keep his mood under control, there is an uncomfortable subtone. His speech also gets more and more slurred, on August 30th even the most loyal fan can't deny that the man is under the influence of something.
