Back in 2004 Follow That Dream Records had
released a soundboard recording of the dinner
show on January 28, 1971. Eighteen years later,
in November 2022, they issued another three
concerts from this season under the name of "Las
Vegas '71". This time the fans got to hear the
midnight shows Elvis gave on January 27th and
28th as well as the dinner show from January
29th. The three compact discs were housed in a
fold-out 5" digipak, which included the basic
information about the concerts as well as some
pictures.
It's no surprise that FTD didn't release the
album digitally. However, their British
competitor Memphis Recording Service does so and
the majority of the tracks from this set can be
found on their collection "Las Vegas
International Presents: Elvis Now 1971", too.
The original mono recordings were turned into
fake-stereo and different filters were used by
the sound engineer. Soundwise I prefer the FTD
version, but if you don't own a cd player, the
MRS release is a great alternative. Besides
that, it also features parts of the opening show
from January 26th as well as pieces of the
closing performance from February 23rd.

Verdict
Compared to the previous Vegas stint some
songs are shortened and played much faster.
Nevertheless the shows are very
entertaining, include some rare performances
and are presented by an energetic performer
in great mood.
